The post received word the afternoon of November 29, 2013 that Senior Vice Commandant of Beaverton Post 4617, Francis Betz, became a member of the VFW in God’s Glory earlier in the afternoon. Â He had been ill for several weeks. Â He celebrated his 70th birthday in September.
Francis took part in Tualatin post activities on Wednesday night potlucks and Saturday morning breakfasts.
Francis was Chairman of a Welcome Home Coin Project that Beaverton Post sponsored. Â He enjoyed presenting a coin to all foreign war veterans that he encountered.
His friendly smile and quiet voice will be greatly missed.
