The Tualatin Post 3452 is having a spaghetti dinner to raise money for the Scholarship Fund of VFW District 16 for VOICE OF DEMOCRACY AND PATRIOT’S PEN Awards.
Each year the Veterans of Foreign Wars sponsors scholarships for programs titled VOICE OF DEMOCRACY and PATRIOT’S PEN.  Students in grades 9 – 12 will produce a voice recording titled “Why I’m Optimistic About Our Nation’s Future†for Voice of Democracy Program. Students in grades 6 – 8 will submit a typewritten essay titled “What Patriotism Means To Me†for the Patriot’s Pen Program. Competition begins at the Post level then advances to the District Level, State Level and winners will go to Washington D.C. for the National scholarship award. Entries are to be submitted to Oregon VFW Posts by November 1, 2013. Applications for entry for the scholarships programs can be found at http://www.vfw.org or at http://www.tualatinvfw.com/.
