DESCRIPTION:A Retired Marine helicopter pilot\, Lt. Col Norbert (Norb) Murr
 ay\, is the honored veteran and featured speaker at Tualatin’s annu
 al Memorial Day Observance at Winona Cemetery (9900 SW Tualatin Road) on M
 ay 25.  It starts at 10:45am and is followed by a picnic at noon at Tua
 latin Community Park sponsored by VFW Mens Auxiliary 3452.\n\n\n\nThis com
 memoration is a great way to honor your deceased family and friends who se
 rved in the military. Traditionally Memorial Day is set aside to remember 
 military veterans who lost their lives in battle. But Tualatin’s an
 nual ceremony expands that to include deceased friends and family of those
  attending as well as those buried in the cemetery.\n\nNorb Murray\, a lif
 e member of VFW Post 3452\, flew 820 combat missions as a helicopter pilot
  in Vietnam.  He went on to serve as a pilot for the helicopter squadro
 n supporting “Marine One” for three consecutive Presidents\, N
 ixon\, Ford and Carter\, where he was the liaison to the White House and t
 he Advance Officer. Among other posts\, he was the Commandant of the Marin
 e Barracks at Whidbey Island Naval Air Station and Special Assistant to th
 e Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Financial Management. He graduated f
 rom UC at Berkley and earned a Master’s degree at the Naval Postgra
 duate School.\n\nOther participants include Mayor Lou Ogden\, the Tualatin
  Police Honor Guard\, TVFR crew with squirt 34\, and last year’s ho
 nored veteran Korean vet Joe Lipscomb leading the Pledge of Allegiance. Th
 e event concludes with WWII submariner\, George Hager\, in a “Tapsâ
 € duet”.
